Sometimes killing is less about death than it is about life.

“Somehow, loving was
like communicating;

I always did it best
through the pen and paper.”
~ Roman Newell

Kills Poetry  is an assorted collection of verse that spans three years. Carrying no blatant theme, this five volume collection services a variety of topics drawn from the author’s life experiences, and wastes no time cutting to the marrow of the human experience. As its name suggests Kills Poetry is gritty, bare, hard-biting free verse that identifies stubborn moments of joy during the best and worst of times.

1 review for Kills Poetry Vol. 1

  1. Darlene Carroll

    Roman Newell shares with readers, a small sampling of his life’s struggles and experiences in the confines of KILLS POETRY Vol. 1. The first part of a five (5) Volume extensive collection.

    I was reflecting on Roman’s introduction that prefaces Kills Poetry Vol. 1 about writing and processes, in fact, life itself, how the creative soul prospers. That is essential or we remain stagnant, “killing” our creative spirit. Sometimes, it’s cool to reflect back, to appreciate where we started and see how far we’ve come and all we’ve accomplished. KILLS POETRY Vol. 1 is a small sample of Roman’s poetic voice.

    It brings forth the duality of realism and the mystery of the human experience within the words inked. The diversity of thoughts and emotions felt is found in poetry’s unique storytelling, conveying a roller coaster that life, love, daily encounters, and service to country garner. The poetry is an authentic representation of no-nonsense, unvarnished honesty— free verse that is gritty and bare. Simple and complex. It’s called REAL LIFE!

    For those that have never read the KILLS POETRY collection or for new readers to Roman’s poetry and writing, there’s no better place to start your journey than with this gorgeous collection. BONUS: it’s FREE and you’ve found yourself a new author and poet to follow.
